What happened to You?

I am alive.

Several folks contacted me to see where I had gone to. I apologize for my abrupt absence, but I’m into my 4th week of Covid-19.

It is the sickest I’ve probably ever been. I realize, however, how fortunate I am.

I am alive.

This stuff hit me like a freight train. I felt good in the morning and by afternoon was on my back with fever and a cough. I’m still trying to kick the fever and cough, but am doing better. This is the first time I have felt like writing and posting anything.

I realize that even though I had a rough time, there are so many who had it much worse than I did.

I am alive.

As I sit here wheezing, I wish you peace, health, and good sense.

Peace for your mind and soul.

Health for your body.

And the good sense to realize what you do or don’t do may decide if someone lives or dies.

I was born and raised in Kansas as part of a family of 7 children. My father was a minister in the United Methodist Church for 50 years. We moved, consequently, every few years to a new church. Each new location became a new chapter in the journey. I have had the privilege of knowing so many different people from varying backgrounds. I wanted to share some of the stories and adventures I have had.

  1. John, your warning is so needed. There are so many who do not realisebthe seriousness of this. I truly do wish you well, and my prayers are always with you. I have been thinking about you so much just lately. May you get stronger and stronger as each day passes. Praying non stop, and sending love to you both.

  2. John, glad you are healing! It’s a scary thing to go through. I am writing a CORONA JOURNAL blog, usually post about weekly. Not too many followers. Anyway, I hope that part of my entries will not relate how I survived the virus! Heal and keep on writing. When you’re up to it!

  3. Wow John, what an ordeal you’ve been through! Thanks for your positive outlook on your condition (no pun intended). I’ve been praying for both you and Andrea in our vigil on Thursdays. Everyday is a blessing from God.
May God be with you during a complete recovery in due time.

  4. John,
I read your post on Carol’s blog and was struck by your candor. More people need to heed your story and the plea for “good sense”. May you fully recover from this disease and be able to reach others who continue to deny the seriousness of Covid-19. Sending you well wishes and a Baha’i healing prayer I often recite:

Thy name is my healing, O my God,
and remembrance of Thee is my remedy.
Nearness to Thee is my hope,
and love for Thee is my companion.
Thy mercy to me is my healing
and my succor in both this world
    and the world to come.
    Thou, verily, art the All-Bountiful,
    the All-Knowing, the All–Wise.

  5. It’s a terrible time for everyone and especially for those who are unlucky enough to get the virus. Wishing you all the best towards recovery. The fact that you are into your fourth week of it is a good sign, I think, because you are still with us, and I hope this means that the worst is over. Sending good thoughts your way!
